Danie Jordens entered the theater world as a maker of sets and props. With his diploma in sculpture in his back pocket, he now not only devises the framing, but also takes care of the roles for the screen. A common thread running through his oeuvre is rooted in a fascination for object theater and his admiration for mechanics and music boxes.

L'escabeau is a non-verbal performance with only two elements: a ladder and lamp. An imaginative voyage of discovery in which we learn that in Hendrik's world a ladder does not necessarily have to be a ladder. Through this clownish quest with high peaks and deep valleys, Hendrik tries to arrive at theater in its pure form: without many frills, without much hassle.
