Hugo, born in Guadalajara (Spain) began his career in the circus world as an autodidact.
He took several courses and mastered all kinds of circus disciplines, but was always very curious about the world of comedy and clowning. He decided to follow this path and focus on a personal search for the clown he wanted to be.
Through collaboration and exchange, Hugo learned a lot from different masters such as Leandre Ribera, Churry Silva and Vasily Protsenko. He participated in numerous projects and performed with different companies such as cía Ale-Hop or Jorge Blass.
As a clown, he gave performances in several circuses, including Cirque Imagine, Hippodorme Circus Great Yarmouth and at festivals such as The Mondoclowns Festival at Chateau du Duras.
With his solo show 'Hugo!', he has performed at dozens of festivals around the world, including Aufgetischt Festival in Switzerland, the Cirkulum Festival in the Czech Republic, the Chuncheon International Mime Festival in South Korea and the International Clown Festival '3 Dias de Farándula' in the Canary Islands where he won the Audience Award.
A unique character discovers the stage and looks for a place to play.
Is he absent-minded or just curious? In any case, he is an eccentric acrobat, a restless and mischievous comedian, extremely original, daring and passionate.
HUGO needs a constant connection with the spectator. He wants to play and gives everything in exchange for audience reaction. An unexpected gesture, a subtle smile or applause means everything to him. The spectators are the accomplices, his challenge and the essence.
The character takes us to a universe full of paper airplanes, hats, acrobatics, newspapers, suitcases, grimaces, magic, confetti and laughter. In his surreal and absurd play is everything possible.
This show is the result of long and thorough training in gestural theater and mime and physical and acrobatic preparation. The to-the-point style with a touch of nostalgia also makes it a treat for the eyes.
