Thelmo Parole

Samuel - the man behind the character of Thelmo Parole - is passionate about comedy, and especially clowning.

During years of intense, personal and mainly self-taught training, he learned from professional clowning masters such as Leandre Ribera, Churry Silva and Alex Navarro. During his 17-year professional career, he developed strong skills in theater and circus disciplines such as acrobatics, mime, clowning, juggling, dance and slapstick.

He wrote, directed and performed himself in numerous projects. He created several characters and shows with which he has been featured on major circuses such as Cirque Amar (France), international festivals such as 'The World Festival of Clowns in Yekaterinburg' (Russia), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), Atsugi Festival (Japan) or globally acclaimed venues such as 'Bolsoi St Petesburg State Circus' (Russia) or 'Teatro Circo Price (Madrid).

As a member of successful companies such as 'La Fura dels Baus', 'Els Comediants', 'Ale Hop', 'Producciones de Sonrisas' and others, Samuel built valuable experience. These important experiences contributed to his development and evolution as a performer and clown.

THELMO PAROLE's 'The show must go on!!' is an original idea by Samuel Penhastro. It is the result of a thorough study and evolution throughout his artistic career and performances, a very intense and delicate work focused on the connection with the audience.

With his unique and sincere, sometimes eccentric sense of humor and an almost missing sense of ridicule, Thelmo connects with the audience in an organic, humble, naked and unpretentious way. The audience witnesses an extraordinary transformation from sophisticated and almost awkward to ridiculous and almost athletic: Thelmo takes off his glasses and exchanges his suit and classic shoes for a lycra suit and superhero cape.

Visually, this show is refined to perfection and a stylish masterpiece. Audiences will undoubtedly be charmed by this unforgettable character.

This show is inspired by great clowns like Grock and Buster Keaton and transformed by the influences of modern times. A tribute to the silent movies, where skills do not come first and where nothing is more important than the character.

A Taste of Vaudeville

A Taste of Vaudeville is:

  • A piano, an open space and two antagonistic characters.
  • An enthusiastic clown and an indifferent musician.
  • A cane, a hat, a spoon.
  • A drum without drumsticks.
  • A bit of baggage for a grand finale.
  • A duel of life and death.
  • A game without rules, where anything is possible.
  • A world where innocence and naivety are a virtue.
  • The right place to enjoy, feel and smile, to think less and love more.
  • A time where you lose all sense of time and where the present moment is all that matters.
  • A place where the street meets the circus and the theater meets the street.
  • A play with you and for all of you.

In this show, Thelmo is accompanied by a versatile, charming and funny musician who gives each situation the right intensity and timing. This gives the show an organic and romantic flavor: a touch of nostalgia, a touch of Vaudeville...
